Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock was named the National League Player of the Month for his first 27 games of the year spanning March and April.

The center fielder slashed .291/.351/.670 with an OPS of 1.021.

He hit nine home runs, two triples and eight doubles in 114 plate appearances while scoring 20 runs. He also stole six bases for the D-backs, who were 20-8 entering the month of May.

Pollock added 22 RBI, 62 total bases and 17 extra-base hits for the first month-plus of the season.

To close April, Pollock hit three home runs on Monday in Arizona’s 8-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

While D-backs teammate Patrick Corbin (4-0, 2.25 ERA) put up a performance worthy of earning the NL Pitcher of the Month award, Washington Nationals starter Max Scherzer (5-1, 1.62 ERA) won the honor.

New York Yankees infielder Didi Gregorius, who slashed /.327/.421/.735 with 30 RBI and 10 home runs heading into May, and Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Sean Manaea (4-2, 1.03 ERA) respectively won the two monthly honors for the American League.
