ASU moving fences in and adding new hitting facility to Phoenix Muni

Arizona State is making numerous changes to Phoenix Municipal Stadium, the home of ASU baseball.
Part of the changes include the addition of a new hitting facility, bringing the fences in and moving the bullpens behind the new outfield fences.
“The project is a great development for the Sun Devil baseball program and Phoenix Municipal Stadium,” Vice President of University Athletics Ray Anderson said in a statement. “One of the top collegiate baseball stadiums in the nation is set to get even better — for our current and future student-athletes, our fans and our community.”
The new outfield dimension will be 333 feet down the left field line and 334 feet down the right field line in honor of former ASU player Cory Hahn and former head coach Jim Brock. It will be 373 feet to the alleys and 390 feet to dead center.
“We take pride in having one of the elite baseball facilities in the country and this project will only help solidify that status,” ASU head coach Tracy Smith said via statement.
The project began earlier this month and is expected to be completed in November.
ASU has been planning to change the dimensions in order to establish its status as a hitter’s destination for recruits.
ASU has played at Phoenix Municipal Stadium since 2015.
