Devin Booker has accomplished many things on the basketball court in his 21 years of life. A trip to the Final Four, an all rookie-team selection and winning the three-point contest are just the tip of the iceberg.

The Suns guard agreed to the richest contract in franchise history Saturday, and the team provided a behind the scenes look of Booker inking the deal.

Booker and his family met with the brass of the Suns organization in Las Vegas where the majority of the front office is set up for the Summer League.

Booker received the maximum deal afforded to him, a five-year, projected $158 million extension that takes him up through his age-26 season.

“This is a big night for the Phoenix Suns organization,” Suns owner Robert Sarver said. “This guy has been really fantastic for us. We’re really lucky we drafted him.”

The Suns committed to Booker as the face of the franchise as they hope to soon contend for deep postseason runs, pairing Booker with a core of other lottery picks Josh Jackson and Deandre Ayton.

The No. 13 pick in the 2015 draft reflected on his short tenure with the Suns at the signing event and has embraced the Phoenix community as his new long-term home.

“This city took me in as family. I want to thank you guys. This is life-changing for me and my family,” said Booker.

Sarver pointed to a moment in Booker’s second season in the league that made him believe Booker was the right person to lead the Suns’ future on the court.

“A year and a half ago in the game against OKC, Russell Westbrook was trying to break the triple-double record. One guy decided he wasn’t going to let him do it in Phoenix, and that was Devin,” Sarver said. “That just stood out to me and I said this guy has what it takes.”

An overwhelmed Booker was understandably excited about his latest accomplishment after three strong NBA seasons. The 21-year-old averaged 24.9 points per game and a strong 50.1 effective field goal percentage last season.

The video concludes with Booker posing with Suns general manager Ryan McDonough and the front page of Booker’s new contract.
