Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jarrod Dyson will begin a Triple-A rehab assignment with the Reno Aces on Friday, according to MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert.
Dyson has missed almost two months of the season after injuring his groin against the St. Louis Cardinals on July 4.
While rounding third base in the sixth inning of the game, Dyson slipped before coming home and scoring.
He was placed on the disabled list the next day.
Dyson has hit just .189 this season for the D-backs, but was a consistent source of speed for a team that’s in the middle of the league in stolen bases.
Dyson’s 16 swiped bags leads the team despite his missed time. Center fielder A.J. Pollock has the second-most with 10 and Chris Owings, who was optioned to Triple-A Reno at the beginning of August, has nine.
The next-highest players are first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and right fielder Steven Souza Jr., who both have five.
When Dyson returns to the D-backs, he will have to find time behind Pollock, Souza, left fielder David Peralta and outfielder Jon Jay.
