Luguentz Dort is one exhibition game into his Arizona State basketball career, but the foundation of an NBA Draft resume is already coming to form.

The freshman shooting guard enters the 2018-19 season with a reputation good enough for ESPN to rank him 23rd on its first list of the top 100 prospects who could be eligible for the 2019 draft. Joining the Sun Devil is Arizona Wildcats guard Brandon Randolph, who came in 42nd on ESPN’s big board.

Both players showed well in their first exhibition games.

A physical and athletic slasher, Dort is among a deep group of ASU guards that includes sophomore Remy Martin and transfer Rob Edwards, but he earned plenty of action against Arizona Christian on Tuesday with Martin sitting out due to injury.

Dort, who was rated by 247 Sports as the 30th-best prospect in the 2018 recruiting class, started for ASU coach Bobby Hurley and finished as the second leading scorer with 16 points. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound guard added five rebounds, two assists and a steal while hitting 6 of 13 shots in 25 minutes.

For Arizona, the sophomore Randolph also debuted well. He hit 6 of 8 shots and made all five three-point attempts in Arizona’s win over Western New Mexico on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-6 shooter finished with 20 points, four rebounds and two assists.

As the 38th-rated recruit in the 2017 class, Randolph played sparingly for the Wildcats as a freshman, averaging 3.7 points on 38 percent shooting in 1.6 minutes per game.
