Round 1 of the 2019 NFL Draft came and went without a deal for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen.

The Cardinals got their man in QB Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick, but didn’t pull the trigger on shipping Rosen elsewhere, although the team admitted they had fielded some trade calls.

Friday morning, however, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the team has “been talking” to the Miami Dolphins on a potential deal for the 2018 first rounder.

While Rapoport reports that nothing is imminent, “Miami has been doing work on Rosen for weeks when it became clear he’d be available, but [Arizona] won’t give him away.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Rapoport also noted that with negotiations continuing around the QB, Rosen has unfollowed the team on Instagram and Twitter.

Miami represents one of the only remaining teams in desperate need of quarterback.

In Thursday’s first round, the New York Giants and Washington Redskins got their future signal callers in Daniel Jones and Dwayne Haskins, respectively.

While the Dolphins have journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick under contract, he’s viewed as more of a bridge QB. Last season, Fitzpatrick threw for more than 2,300 yards on 66.7% passing for 17 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. But while his play wasn’t terrible in 2018, at 36 years, Fitzpatrick isn’t viewed as the guy of the future.

Miami general manager Chris Grier was asked about Rosen Thursday night, telling reporters “we’re investigating all avenues” and “we’re looking at all options at every position.”

In addition to the Miami report, 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro has also mentioned the Los Angeles Chargers as a team “kicking the tires” on a trade, while the Patriots have not shown interest.
