The Arizona Diamondbacks placed left fielder David Peralta on the 10-day injured list Friday due to inflammation in his right AC joint.

Peralta exited a game on May 15 against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to trap tightness in his right shoulder. He went on to play the next game on May 17 before sitting out the following day.

He started the next three games after that rest day, but in the third on Tuesday, Peralta exited in the fifth inning. He did not play on Wednesday and the team had a day off on Thursday.

Peralta has been putting up All-Star numbers, leading the team in batting average (.309) and doubles (16) to go along with seven home runs and 30 RBI through 46 games played.

The timing of Peralta’s injury couldn’t be worse for the D-backs, as they are coming off being swept by the Padres in a three-game series where they produced only five total runs.

One of the few hitters that had been producing in May along with Peralta was infielder Wilmer Flores, but Flores was placed on the 10-day IL Tuesday and it was revealed Wednesday he has a fracture in his right foot.

The team called up outfielder Tim Locastro as well as infielder Kevin Cron, using the roster spot from Peralta and another they opened up on Wednesday after sending down relief pitcher Jimmie Sherfy.

Locastro has made six appearances this season for the D-backs, three in center field, two in left field and one in right. He’s batting .235 in 17 at-bats.

Cron has been on fire in Reno, hitting .339 with 21 home runs and 62 RBI. Cron’s 21 home runs are the most at any level this season and he boasts an absurd 1.237 OPS. The 26-year-old is not listed in MLB Pipeline’s top 30 Diamondbacks prospects. He was selected in the 14th round by the D-backs in the 2014 MLB Draft and 2019 is his second full season playing at the Triple-A level. He has not yet made an appearance in the majors.
