The Phoenix Suns have signed free agent forward Frank Kaminsky to a two-year, $10 million contract, the player’s agent told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station confirmed the signing.

Phoenix already used all of the available cap space and then some to agree to a three-year, $51 million contract with point guard Ricky Rubio on Sunday, but the team had a room mid-level exception to add Kaminsky, who likely slots in as a backup power forward.

The Charlotte Hornets declined a qualifying offer for the fifth-year pro who went ninth overall in the 2015 draft out of Wisconsin. Kaminsky, a 7-footer, has two double-digit scoring seasons under his belt and has shot 37% from three-point range in the last two years. Finally, his overall shooting percentages were above 43% last season — he shot 46% from the field — but the 26-year-old appeared in just 47 games under first-year head coach James Borrego.

Dario Saric, who the Suns will acquire in an agreed-upon trade that can become official on July 6, is expected to be the Suns’ starting power forward.

Kaminsky will add depth to a frontcourt that also includes centers Deandre Ayton and Aron Baynes.

This offseason, the Suns traded forward T.J. Warren and are expected to lose center Richaun Holmes and forward Dragan Bender in free agency.
