As Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Wilmer Flores recovers from injury, his rehab assignment will be moved to the team’s Triple-A affiliate, the Reno Aces Twitter announced Monday.

Flores, who has been out since May with a fractured right foot, went 7-for-13 at the rookie-level of the Arizona League this past week.

He will now move up to Reno to face a higher level of pitching before he returns to the team.

It is unknown how many games Flores will start with the Aces.

According to Arizona Republic’s Nick Piecoro, manager Torey Lovullo said Flores could make a return as early as Thursday’s homestand against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Flores fractured his foot after being hit by a pitch thrown by San Francisco Giants pitcher Drew Pomeranz on May 19.

He had been batting .281 with an OPS of .725 in 42 games before the injury.

Once he returns to the team, the D-backs could face a logjam in the infield.

Christian Walker, Jake Lamb, Nick Ahmed and Eduardo Escobar currently round out the starting infield.

However, with Flores returning, the team will have to decide how to split the playing time or possibly move someone to the outfield until David Peralta comes back from his injury.
