Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury had a feeling linebacker Brooks Reed would be coming off the physically unable to perform list “soon” when asked on Friday.

The move was officially put in motion Saturday morning as the linebacker was activated off the team’s PUP list, the Cardinals announced.

Reed had been dealing with a hip injury and was placed on the PUP list on July 20.

Reed, a Tucson native who played for Sabino High School and the Arizona Wildcats, was officially signed to a one-year deal back in February to help add depth to a linebacker corps that has seen both departures and additions since the conclusion of last season.

Reed was previously with the Atlanta Falcons (four seasons). Before that, Reed was a member of the Houston Texans (four seasons).

Over the course of his eight-year career, Reed has compiled 276 tackles, 21.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception.

Last season with Atlanta, Reed played in 16 games (eight starts), recording 24 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

Reed returns to the field for Day 3 of the team’s training camp.
