The fourth quarter is when the Air Raid offense comes to life.

As the Cardinals started the fourth quarter, Kyler Murray sent a deep pass in the direction of Larry Fitzgerald who pulled it in for a 54-yard gain.

That play put Murray over the 300 passing yards mark for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, a 23-17 loss for the Cardinals. Murray finished the day with 349 yards and completed 25 of 40 attempts.

The mark put Murray in elite company. Alongside Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton, Murray is just the second quarterback in NFL history post more than 300 passing yards in each of their first two career games.

“That’s really cool, but I wish we could have won the game,” Murray told reporters.

Last Sunday in an overtime tie against the Detroit Lions, Murray had 308 passing yards and completed 29 of 54 attempts.

“It’s just what he does. To be honest, it doesn’t surprise me,” wide receiver Christian Kirk said. “He’s always going to give you a chance to win.”

Overall, Murray has twice done his job as a rookie quarterback: Doing enough to keep Arizona within striking distance deep into the fourth quarter.

“He competed. He made throws that kept us in the game,” head coach Kliff Kingsbury said.
