The Miami Dolphins didn’t wait long to turn to former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen.

The Dolphins will start Rosen Week 3 against the Cowboys, benching starter Ryan Fitzpatrick after only two weeks, per the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

It’s not an extremely shocking move considering how the season has started for Miami. They have been outscored by a total of 92 points through two games, losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener 59-10 and following that up with a 43-0 defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots.

Fitzpatrick on the season is 25-of-50 for 274 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. Last Sunday, he threw pick-sixes on back-to-back drives, which saw Rosen enter the game with the Dolphins down 37-0.

Rosen has seen garbage-time action in both games, completing eight of his 21 pass attempts for 102 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions.

Fitzpatrick and Rosen have been sacked a combined 10 times through two games.

The Dolphins traded the 62nd overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and a 2020 fifth-round pick in exchange for Rosen on draft night. The Cardinals went on to select wide receiver Andy Isabella in that spot, who has played seven snaps for Arizona early on.

Miami signed Fitzpatrick to a two-year deal in the offseason worth $11 million.

The Cardinals traded up five spots to take Rosen in the 2018 NFL Draft and selected him with the 10th overall pick.

Just three games into his rookie year, Rosen made his debut late in a game while replacing veteran Sam Bradford. From then on, he was viewed as the face of the franchise.

As Arizona tumbled to a 3-13 record by the end of the year, Rosen’s 2,278 yards, 55% of passes completed and touchdown-to-interception ratio of 11-to-14 sank some belief in his future, even if he was playing without talent around him or stability under two offensive coordinators.

In Rosen’s place has been No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray, who is fourth in the NFL in passing yards and seventh in completions through two games.
