Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman Max Garcia is coming off the physically unable to perform list and is returning to practice, per the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

“Getting there,” head coach Kliff Kingsbury said of Garcia before practice on Wednesday. “Need to get him out and get football conditioning and he’s got a few weeks to do that but we like the progress he’s made.”

A fourth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Garcia is coming off an ACL tear suffered in mid-November. Primarily a left guard, he also played some right guard in his first four years in the NFL. Garcia has started in 41 games and played in 56 total.

Garcia, 27, was a depth signing by the Cardinals in March that will give them some much-needed cover if an injury were to arise on the offensive line.

Arizona’s offensive line as a whole has been a pleasant surprise at times in 2019, giving quarterback Kyler Murray time to throw and the running game gaps to run through. The Cardinals have already been hurting in terms of injuries to that unit, losing to IR starting right tackle Marcus Gilbert, backup right tackle Jordan Mills, as well as backup linemen Rees Odhiambo and William Sweet.
