After taking a quarterback in the first round of the draft two years in a row, the Arizona Cardinals go offensive line in the latest 2020 mock draft from Pro Football Focus.

The writer, Michael Renner, projected the Cardinals to have the 11th overall pick in the draft and use it to select Alabama left tackle Alex Leatherwood, bolstering an offensive line group that was much-criticized in 2018 and probably has room for improvement further still.

Keep in mind that after the 2019 season, according to Spotrac, several offensive lineman are slated to become free agents including D.J. Humphries, Marcus Gilbert, Max Garcia, A.Q. Shipley and Jordan Mills (of course, any of them could potentially re-sign).

One of the biggest movers on the PFF board this year, Leatherwood is smooth as can be at left tackle. He’s allowed only five pressures on 268 pass-blocking snaps after he surrendered 21 last year at right guard.

Listed on Alabama’s website as being 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, Leatherwood played right guard in 2018 and moved back to left tackle this year — exhibiting some versatility in that regard. He was a unanimous five-star recruit coming out of high school and has since gone on to play 30 games since then thus far.

PFF noted that their mock draft wasn’t done to predict but what players teams would take, but who they should take.

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow went first overall in the mock draft to the Cincinnati Bengals, while the Crimson Tide’s Tua Tagovailoa went to the Redskins.
