Arizona Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake tweeted that he’s “not concerned” about extension talks with the team that can continue beyond Wednesday.

“I’m not too concerned about signing an extension currently,” he wrote. “That’ll come in due time. Right now I’m focused on everyday getting in the best shape of my life to help this team play winning football. Everything else will run its course. Stay safe, wash your hands, wear a mask.”

Wednesday marked the deadline for players who were franchise-tagged to sign extensions. Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, the 2019 rushing leader in the NFL, came to an agreement on a four-year extension that could exceed $50 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Drake is on a transition tag.

Rapoport reported earlier Wednesday that Arizona and Drake were “not close” to a long-term agreement.

The Cardinals on March 16 tendered a transition tag that will pay Drake $8.5 million this year before he could hit free agency. He signed it five days later, ensuring himself that money while also giving him and the team a chance to negotiate a long-term deal.

Arizona acquired Drake in a midseason trade with the Miami Dolphins last season. He rushed for 643 yards and eight touchdowns on 5.2 yards per carry while adding 171 receiving yards.
