Point guard Ricky Rubio confirmed in a Zoom call Wednesday that he had the coronavirus before joining the Phoenix Suns in Orlando.

Rubio was one of the few Suns players to not appear in social media videos during the players’ time in the bubble. His location was unknown by the general public until Tuesday, when New York Times reporter Marc Stein tweeted that Rubio was with the team.

That was Rubio’s first day at practice in the bubble, he said Wednesday.

Rubio received the two negative tests required to join the Suns in Orlando.

On Wednesday, center Aron Baynes revealed during an interview with Stadium’s Shams Charania that he too tested positive for the coronavirus.

Baynes remains in Phoenix awaiting two negative tests.

Point guard Elie Okobo and guard Jalen Lecque are the two other players not in Orlando with the Suns. They are away due to personal matters, head coach Monty Williams said Wednesday.

The Suns will play their first of three scrimmages on Thursday against the Utah Jazz at 5:00 p.m. and you can hear the action on ESPN 620 AM. They begin the eight-game seeding portion of the bubble on July 31 against the Washington Wizards, a 1:00 p.m. tip-off you can also listen to on ESPN 620 AM.
