Brandon Webb still struggling with injury

Jun 3, 2011, 2:28 AM | Updated: 3:30 am

Former Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Webb has had yet another setback.

In a Wednesday e-mail to reporters, Texas Rangers Assistant General Manager Thad Levine said Webb experienced some discomfort in his right shoulder during a bull pen session.

Dr. Meister evaluated him and has diagnosed that he does have some inflammation in his rotator cuff.

He was given an anti-inflammatory, but will have to wait a minimum of seven days to start a new rehab program.

Webb played seven seasons with the D-backs. The 2006 NL Cy Young Award-winner has a 3.27 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over his career and hasn’t started a game in the majors since 2009 after suffering a right shoulder injury.

The Rangers agreed to a one-year contract with Webb after he became a free agent in 2010.
