Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray said he warmed up but did not take part in practice Tuesday as a precautionary measure in order to play in Week 12.

Murray said he sat out to limit the number of throws he takes this week and was taking things “day by day.” He sounded confident he would play Sunday on the road against the New England Patriots.

“I feel fine, I feel good,” he added.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Murray suffered an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder last Thursday during a 28-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He injured himself on the second Cardinals possession but finished the game by completing 29-for-42 (69%) passes for 269 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Maybe the only evidence of the injury — other than trainers heating his shoulder and Murray keeping it loose during breaks — was Arizona only rushing Murray five times for 15 yards by the end of the game at Seattle.

Murray said Thursday in his post-game press conference that the game flow dictated that he didn’t run as much as usual. The Seahawks defense also did a sound job walling off the quarterback on the edges and keeping him from pulling it on passing plays.

On Monday, head coach Kingsbury said Arizona wouldn’t know Murray’s status until they see the quarterback on the practice field to determine “if we need to make any adjustments or if he can cut it loose.”

The Cardinals will not submit an official injury report until Wednesday.
