The Arizona Cardinals designated defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to return from injured reserve on Wednesday, and now one of their top offseason signings has a chance to help them push for a playoff bid in the final four games of the year.

Phillips and fellow defensive lineman Corey Peters went on injured reserve Nov. 19.

While Peters was ruled out for the year with a knee injury, Phillips was placed on IR with a hamstring injury. He had 10 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles in eight games this year.

Phillips can practice with the Cardinals as of Wednesday and has 21 days to be activated to the 53-man roster.

Since Arizona lost Peters and Phillips, the team has found relative success with a patchwork defensive line. Ends Angelo Blackson and Zach Allen, along with reserve tackle Trevon Coley and recently signed 15-year veteran Domata Peko, have taken most of the snaps in the interior.

With a Week 14 game against the New York Giants upcoming Sunday, the Cardinals could have close to a healthy defensive line if Phillips is activated.

Arizona got back rookie Leki Fotu last week, and he posted two tackles for loss in a 38-28 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams.

Fellow rookie Rashard Lawrence was placed on the roster from the designated to return list last week as well but was not active for the game. He earned a healthy dose of playing time early in the year behind Peters at nose tackle, but a calf injury has kept him out of action since Oct. 17, which was Week 5.
