After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and
provide you with instant analysis. So it’s time to go
Inside the Box for
August 13, 2011: Diamondbacks 6, Mets 4

The Good:

Daniel Hudson worked against the Mets on Saturday and showed why he and Ian Kennedy are forming a lethal one-two punch. In his eight innings, he gave up eight hits for four runs, only two of which were earned. Hudson also helped his case by hitting a sixth inning RBI. He ended his night on the right note as well: a strikeout.

Ryan Roberts provided the offensive spark needed to overcome an otherwise decent night by Mets starter Mike Pelfrey. After a first inning double, Roberts was soon brought home by Justin Upton. His three-run home run in the fifth didn’t hurt matters, either.

The Bad:

Pelfrey may have had a decent night, but the D-backs had to fend off a Mets side that was rather pesky. The Mets managed to blank the heart of the D-backs order, leaving Miguel Montero, Chris Young and Paul Goldschmidt with a combined 0 for 10 in the game.

The Funky:

The D-backs have now won five straight games, good enough to put them a full two games ahead of the San Fransisco Giants in the NL West race.
