The top high school recruit in the class of 2021 spurned spending his college years in Tempe for the City of Angels on Saturday.

Korey Foreman, a 6-foot-4-inch defensive end out of Corona Centennial High School in California, chose the USC Trojans over the Arizona State Sun Devils, Clemson Tigers, LSU and Georgia during Saturday’s “All-American Bowl: Declaration Day,” special on NBC.

The fact that ASU was among his top five choices is notable for the Sun Devils, who have recruited four-star Californians well under head coach Herm Edwards but have failed to be in the running for a prospect like Foreman.

Foreman is ranked as the top overall prospect in the nation by 247 Sports after racking up 59 tackles and 12.5 sacks in three seasons at Centennial.

The five-star defensive end originally committed to play for Dabo Swinney and his staff at Clemson before decommitting from the Tigers in April.

According to The Athletic, Foreman signed with the Trojans after visiting the finalists on his list but before making his announcement on Saturday.

ASU will have a chance to face off against Foreman at some point in the 2021 regular season, though the exact date of the game won’t be known until the Pac-12 releases its schedule later this year.

The Sun Devils currently have the 46th ranked recruiting class in the nation, according to 247 Sports, ranking seventh in the Pac-12.

Edwards and his staff still have time to improve their standing, as recruits have until Feb. 3 to sign their national letters of intent.
