Herm Edwards and the Arizona State Sun Devils are still looking to fill their offensive line coach and run game coordinator spots.

After ASU made it official with the hiring of Indianapolis Colts assistant offensive line coach Klayton Adams, the coach reversed course, opting to remain with the NFL team, per The Athletic’s Doug Haller.

Haller said the coach is taking on a similar role with the Colts, while SunDevilSource.com adds that Adams received a better offer to remain with Indianapolis.

Adams originally agreed to be ASU’s next offensive line coach and run game coordinator on Jan. 18. Adams was replacing Dave Christensen, who retired at the end of 2020.

It is now the second time Adams has flipped on a coaching decision in the past two years. In 2019, Adams was going to join Wyoming in the same role before opting to join the Colts organization.

Adams returns to Indianapolis after spending two seasons with the Colts, helping the team finish No. 11 in the NFL in rush yards per game. They also had the seventh best offensive line as graded by Pro Football Focus.

Last season the Sun Devils led the Pac-12 averaging 458.5 yards per game and 264.3 rushing yards per game.
