Herm Edwards and his staff added another weapon for quarterback Jayden Daniels, as former Utah wide receiver Bryan Thompson is transferring to Arizona State.

The team announced on Friday that Thompson signed a grant-in-aid letter to play for the Sun Devils and will have two years of eligibility left.

Thompson made a name for himself due to his big play ability. He has averaged 22.9 yards per catch on 33 career receptions.

Thompson made 33 appearances at Utah, starting in 12 of them. He recorded 756 receiving yards and 33 catches during his career at Utah.

Thompson’s best season came in 2019 when he made nine starts and racked up 461 receiving yards, which was second on the team.

Thompson hauled in 18 passes that year and scored three touchdowns. He recorded a pair of 100-yard receiving games in 2019, with 111 against Washington State and 105 against Idaho State.

During the shortened 2020 season, Thompson caught nine passes for 187 yards and a touchdown in five games.

Thompson joins a receivers group highlighted by rising sophomores LV Bunkley-Shelton and Johnny Wilson as well as rising juniors Ricky Pearsall and Geordon Porter.
