Hall: Outfield depth a good problem to have

With the emergence of Adam Eaton and Jason Kubel’s career year in the desert, trade winds continue to swirl in the direction of veteran outfielders Chris Young and Justin Upton.

The way Diamondbacks’ president and CEO Derrick Hall sees it, the chatter and speculation about his team’s outfield depth is flattering.

“It’s a good problem to have,” Hall told Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf Tuesday. “It says a lot about how Kubel has played and how Eaton has played since he’s been up here. And [Gerardo] Parra, we know what he can do as well.”

While rumors have circulated around the two mainstays — Young and Upton — in the Diamondbacks’ outfield, Hall didn’t suggest the club necessarily plans to move either heading into 2013, calling both “great players” within the organization.

“To have five players in the mix right now in the outfield and wonder who’s going to be the guy you move, if you need to move somebody, I understand the speculation,” said Hall. “I think it’s good banter and good discussion, because it shows people are interested and like what we’ve got.”
