The Suns made Stephen A. Smith and Michael Wilbon speechless

Stephen A. Smith and Michael Wilbon have made their sports television careers by opining and yelling and generally having takes — sometimes hot, sometimes not.

Rarely do they have nothing to say.

But the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday had them speechless.

The hot-take connoisseurs were on site at Phoenix Suns Arena to witness the Suns’ 104-103 Game 2 victory against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The moment of the night — and their reactions to it — was caught on camera by a fan, who showed great content-creating awareness by panning across the home crowd after Deandre Ayton’s go-ahead dunk and then to the ESPN broadcast platform.

There’s a first time for everything, and there as they geared up to analyze the wild game, Smith and Wilbon were filmed standing damn near stunned, literally with jaws agape.

“I didn’t realize what Stephen A and I, what our reactions were,” Wilbon told Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta. “I had no idea we were just standing there mouths open like two goofs. I had no idea that was our reaction. It is the loudest explosion of noise, it’s right up there — I can’t say it’s the loudest — it’s right up there with Jordan at the buzzer, Kobe at the buzzer. … It’s Philly, New York, Chicago, Boston loud last night in that arena.

“When that dunk went down, I clearly didn’t know what to think about it.”

Congrats to the Phoenix Suns, who not only challenged the space-time continuum by drawing up an alley-oop dunk that took 0.2 seconds off the clock, but more impressively got Stephen A. and Wilbon to not say anything at all.

We will allow you to be the judge of which of those things was more impressive.
