The Arizona Diamondbacks did some roster shuffling ahead of the team’s matchup with the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.

The team recalled outfielder Stuart Fairchild from the Triple-A Reno Aces and activated right-handed pitcher Jordan Weems.

Additionally, Arizona optioned outfielder Nick Heath to the Aces.

“There just wasn’t consistent playing time there for Nick and it was a tough fit,” D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. “We are a very left-handed hitting team. Some of the starts and some of the at-bats he was getting were against left-handed pitching so we were looking for a right-handed bat.

“Stu’s been swinging the bat very, very well. Continues to grow and learn and has been doing a really nice job of accepting the coaching in Triple-A and getting better every single day. He’s going out and executing at a very high level and we felt like it was the right expectation and right opportunity for him.”

Fairchild is set to make his MLB debut after hitting .328 (21-for-64) to go along with a 1.083 OPS. He’s posted two doubles, one triple, six home runs and 18 RBIs in 17 games with the Aces this year.

The outfielder, along with infielder Josh VanMeter, were sent over to the D-backs in the 2020 trade with the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for RHP Archie Bradley and cash considerations.

Weems was picked up by the D-backs off of waivers from the Oakland Athletics on Monday.

The 28-year-old right-hander made his big league debut last season and has compiled a 3.93 ERA in 14 games of relief, striking out 22 in 18.1 innings.

This season, Weems has given up three runs in 4.1 innings while walking three and striking out four.

The D-backs will look to get back in the win column Tuesday night against the Rockies. Tune to ESPN 620 AM at 6:40 p.m. for all the action.
