Arizona Diamondbacks reliever Joakim Soria has been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for two players to be named later, the team announced Friday.

Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro first reported the move.

Soria, 37, appeared in 31 games for Arizona this season, posting a 1.33 WHIP and 4.30 ERA, the latter of which tied for the second-worst mark in his MLB career that began in 2007.

The 2021 season was the first for Soria, a two-time All-Star, as a member for the D-backs.

Soria posted 31 strikeouts in 29.1 innings to only eight walks. He had six saves.

Arizona’s biggest trade chip, infielder Eduardo Escobar, was dealt days before the Friday deadline at 1 p.m.

Escobar was batting .246 with a team-high 22 home runs and 65 RBI. In return for Escobar, the D-backs acquired outfielder Cooper Hummel and infielder Alberto Ciprian.

Hummel was an 18th-round selection in 2016 and this season is playing at the Triple-A level, batting .254 with six home runs and 15 RBIs in 46 games.

Ciprian just became a member of the Brewers organization this year, playing rookie ball in the Dominican Summer League.
