GLENDALE — Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t bite his tongue during his first press conference back with his team on Wednesday.

The 2020 NFL MVP was more than willing to voice his concerns and displeasure with the Packers, highlighting the team’s lack of including him in roster decisions and “in conversations that directly impacted [his] job.”

The interview quickly made the rounds across the social media and has been a topic for many in NFL circles.

As far as head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s philosophy on the matter, letting the team’s top decisionmaker provide some sort of input on roster moves shouldn’t be as farfetched as it sounds in Green Bay.

If anything, it’s encouraged.

“I love it, particularly when a guy has earned it,” Kingsbury said. “I think those guys, they have as good a feel for players, players’ personalities, talent as any of us because they’ve been on the field with them or worked with them.

“I do think that goes a long way. In the season same way, we’ve talked to Kyler about different players he likes, receivers, linemen and we like having that dialogue. Gives you a different perspective.”

Kingsbury added that Murray is no doubt headed that way.

Murray on the other hand, loved what Rodgers had to say in his training camp rant. He also understands that a 17-year veteran with a Super Bowl ring and multiple MVPs has earned that right to let his frustrations air in that matter than say a three-year QB like himself.

“You’d like to have a say on what goes on,” Murray said. “You’d like to have a say in the guys you’d want to play with because at the end of the day … we’re the ones on the field.

“At the end of the day we can only give our opinion. It is what it is, they can take it and run with it however they may and that’s usually how it ends up happening. I would love to and … I hope to continue to build that relationship and be able to do that.”
