Kyler Murray already found himself in the MVP mix, at least on the high end of expectations. Even Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim didn’t fear putting him in that conversation.
Now, after a single week of the NFL season, Murray is blowing up.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Murray is tied with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady for the third-best NFL MVP odds (+900).
That duo is behind the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes (+600) and the Los Angeles Rams’ Matthew Stafford (+800).
BetMGM’s book has Murray alone in second (+900) behind Mahomes (+600). The Cardinals quarterback is ahead of a tied Brady and Stafford (+1000) at that betting service.
Murray was at +2500 before Arizona defeated the Tennessee Titans, 38-13, on Sunday, making for one of the largest jumps in NFL MVP odds.
He had the second-highest ticket percentage (11.8%), behind Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (18.2%).
Five total touchdowns and a commanding presence leading an offense that poured it on the Titans will do that.
Murray went 21-of-32 for 289 yards in Tennessee. While he took two sacks and threw an interception, Murray connected for scores twice each with receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Christian Kirk.
The Arizona quarterback also rushed five times for 20 yards, including a touchdown.
