The Phoenix Suns and Mercury announced on Friday that they will host a doubleheader of basketball games on Wednesday at the Footprint Center.

The Suns play the Los Angeles Lakers in a preseason matchup, one that was moved to 3 p.m. so that the Mercury can follow at 7 p.m. in Game 4 of the WNBA semifinals against the Las Vegas Aces. The Mercury’s win in Game 2 on Thursday tied up the series 1-1 and locked in a Game 4 happening, thus the announcement.

Both games will be played on the Mercury’s floor.

While the games will be back-to-back as a doubleheader, the clubs announced that they will be treated as separate events for fans. That means you’ll need a ticket for both if you plan to take part in the doubleheader.

Doors will open prior to the Suns game for the general public at 2 p.m. and then that time will be at 6 p.m. before the Mercury’s big game.

Suns guard Devin Booker said he will be in attendance for Game 3 on Sunday at Arizona State’s Desert Financial Arena, as a scheduling conflict left the Mercury unable to play at the Footprint Center.

Booker and some of his teammates will go to the game before flying out to Sacramento ahead of their first preseason game on Monday against the Kings.

“I’ve always been a supporter of our Mercury team and they’ve always held us down also,” Booker said Friday. “We have a big game coming Sunday.”
