TEMPE — If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.

And if you can set season highs running the football in less-than-ideal weather conditions, you can be confident in knowing your ankle is fine.

Last Sunday, quarterback Kyler Murray faced as tough a test you would want for him in the first game back from a three-game absence.

Up against not only a desperate Chicago Bears team but the inclement weather, Murray put any injury doubt to rest, rushing for season highs in yards (59), carries (10) and touchdowns (2), while completing 11 of 15 throws for 123 yards and two more scores.

“Obviously it’s sore, it’s the first game back,” Murray said Thursday. “Did a lot on it … as far as running and stuff like that, and the conditions were tough but I felt really good out there, no restrictions or anything. I expected it to be [sore] like that after the game.”

That’s a good sign for Murray, who will need to be quick on his feet against a Los Angeles Rams team looking to stay afloat in the NFC West race and headlined by pass rushers Aaron Donald and Von Miller.

Chase Edmonds among those injured with ‘good shot’ of playing in Detroit

Running back Chase Edmonds (high ankle sprain) was one of the three Cardinals designated to return from the injured reserve on Thursday.

But while he was back with his teammates to kick off the week of practice, there are a few boxes to check before he gets re-inserted into the starting lineup.

Kingsbury didn’t entirely rule out the running back, long snapper Aaron Brewer or Charles Washington, however.

“I would say within the next couple of weeks,” Kingsbury said Thursday. “I don’t know if they’ll all get back this week but I’d say within the next two weeks. By Detroit I think it’s safe to say we got a good shot of getting them out there.”

The next few days of practice will be very telling for Kingsbury and Co.

“I think tomorrow, our heavy practice day, we’ll get them out there in pads, see how they feel and and hopefully can progress from there,” Kingsbury said.
