Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss the rest of the regular season after having an MRI on a sprained knee, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Schefter added that Arizona is hopeful Hopkins could return during a playoff run.

The Cardinals have four games left against Detroit, Indianapolis, Dallas and Seattle.

Earlier on Wednesday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport specified that Hopkins is suffering from a knee injury. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters that the receiver was seeking a second opinion after undergoing an MRI.

Per Schefter, he is determining whether he will require surgery. That is not expected to alter his ability to return before the playoffs.

At the end of the Cardinals’ second-to-last drive Monday in a 30-23 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Hopkins went up for a jump ball and got up slowly before heading to the sideline. He was not in for Arizona’s last drive.

Hopkins has 42 catches for 572 yards and eight touchdowns this season but has missed three games with a hamstring issue. He played in the last two games coming out of a bye week.

Kingsbury on Wednesday had better news regarding running back James Conner, who is day-to-day with an ankle issue. Conner also underwent an MRI after the Monday game.

Conner was seen limping after making a nine-yard catch with 26 seconds left to play as Arizona made a last effort to make a comeback.

The running back was slow to get up before limping to the backfield. He stayed in for the final play but hardly moved before gingerly walking to the locker room after quarterback Kyler Murray was sacked to end the game.

Conner leads the 10-3 Cardinals in rushing yards (661) and rushing touchdowns (14).
