SCOTTSDALE — It may be the offseason, but that didn’t stop quarterback Kyler Murray from making headlines recently.

And no, we’re not talking about his Pro Bowl performance.

On Monday, it was unearthed that Murray wiped his Instagram clean outside of two posts — A photo gallery of his Pro Bowl appearance on Sunday and a 2018 post about his Heisman Trophy win as a member of the Oklahoma Sooners.

The only likeness of the Cardinals on his page was the logo on his helmet and jersey in the Pro Bowl pictures.

Was it a simple social media reconstruction or a hint at his current contract situation? He’s up for an extension, but Arizona has control of Murray in 2022, plus the fifth-year rookie option for 2023.

“I haven’t talked to Kyler for awhile but he looked good in the Pro Bowl, looked like he was having a great time throwing touchdowns out there and I just hope everything works out the way both sides want it to work out,” former teammate Larry Fitzgerald told reporters Tuesday ahead of the WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale. “That’s really what it’s all about for me. I love Kyler, I love the Cardinals and I want the best for everybody.”

Current teammate Christian Kirk, who is set to hit free agency this offseason, gets what the signal caller is doing while also maintaining his distance from social media.

“The guy’s doing what he needs to do, I have no control over that,” Kirk told reporters Tuesday. “That’s all I’ll say on that one. If I’m not reacting to it I don’t think anybody else should. … I’ve been off of social media but I hear the noise, so I’m gonna keep staying off of and enjoy my offseason.”

But if you ask former Cardinal and current Minnesota Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson, his guess is as good as ours.

“I don’t know,” Peterson said Wednesday at the WM Phoenix Open Pro-Am. “I can’t tell you what’s been going on there in that building. … That’s for you guys (the media) to find out.”
