Arizona State running back Rachaad White made a name for himself in his two seasons with the Sun Devils and is considered one of the program’s top draft prospects in 2022.

Racking up 1,420 yards and 20 touchdowns on 224 carries, White showcased his ability as a runner while also showing off his hands to the tune of 607 yards and two scores on 51 catches.

And with the Arizona Cardinals in the market to add to their backfield — both James Conner and Chase Edmonds are unrestricted free agents — it’s no surprise the running back in their own backyard has at the very least chatted with the organization.

“I’ve played two years here at Arizona State, 15 games the past three years, so I know they’ve been very successful, especially starting out in the season,” White told reporters Thursday. “Would I like to stay in the Valley? I like Arizona a lot so I wouldn’t mind that.

“Honestly, I’ll say they’re a pretty good team, got a great coaching staff I think. And yes of course I’ve spoken with them.”

White said he also met with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers during the NFL Combine, adding all the teams he has spoken with have had “good vibes.”

With Conner and Edmonds headed for free agency, the Cardinals’ running backs room is quite bare, with ASU alumnus Eno Benjamin the lone rusher under contract through next season.

And while the running back shared the ASU backfield with DeaMonte “Chip” Trayanum the past two seasons, White believes he can be an every-down back.

“I pride myself on being a playmaker, if I feel like I would make a good playmaker for an NFL team,” White said. “A guy that can be on special teams, can catch the ball out of the backfield, pick up pass protection, run the ball, whatever you need I can bring to an NFL team.”
