Former Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Jordan Phillips signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday.

It’s a return to a familiar setting for Phillips, who played in Buffalo for two seasons before signing on with Arizona in 2020.

The move comes after Arizona released the lineman Wednesday. Shortly after getting cut, Phillips posted to Instagram, insinuating a return to Buffalo.

Both the Cardinals and Phillips now look to turn the page on the defensive tackle’s underwhelming two seasons in the desert.

The 6-foot-6, 341-pound Phillips signed a three-year deal worth up to $40 million before the 2020 season but appeared in only 18 of 33 games due to multiple injuries.

He totaled just five sacks and 33 tackles with the Cardinals over the past two years. That’s a far cry from his 2019 effort of 9.5 sacks in Buffalo.

During the first day of the NFL’s negotiating window on Monday, running back Chase Edmonds agreed to a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins. Soon after, wide receiver Christian Kirk agreed to a hefty four-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

A pair of Cardinals captains in Jordan Hicks and Chandler Jones will also don new colors next season, signing with the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday and Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday, respectively.

As of Thursday, the Cardinals defensive line room includes J.J. Watt, Zach Allen, Rashard Lawrence, Leki Fotu and Michael Dogbe.
