The 2022 NFL season is quickly approaching.

Arizona Cardinals rookies will report to training camp on Thursday and veterans will come in for the run test next week.

And according to a schedule released by the NFL, the Cardinals will take part in a joint practice that will be hosted by the Tennessee Titans in August.

The joint practice is scheduled for Aug. 24, but Cardinals reporter Darren Urban says that Arizona could practice with Tennessee again in the days leading up to both teams’ final regular-season tuneup game.

The Cardinals and Titans are scheduled to kick off against each other in a preseason contest at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Aug. 27.

This wouldn’t be the first time these two franchises held joint practices together, either.

Arizona and Tennessee last held joint practices together back in 2010 when head coaches Ken Wisenhunt and Jeff Fischer were at the helm for their respective football teams.

The Titans will also be hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in both a joint practice (Aug. 17) and preseason game (Aug. 20) a week prior to the Cardinals’ arrival in Tennessee, a plan that has been in the works since March.

“Not only is it an evaluation, but it’s preparation. These are good football teams,” current Titans head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters in March.

“I mean, we saw what Arizona did to us in the first week of the (2021) season. It’s a talented team, a fast team. We know how good Tampa Bay is. These are opportunities for us to prepare and also evaluate our team.”

The Cardinals defeated the Titans 38-13 on the road in Week 1 of the 2021 regular season.

Following the joint practices and preseason game, Arizona will return home from Tennessee to host the Kansas City Chiefs two weeks later in the Week 1 regular-season opener at State Farm Stadium on Sept. 11.
