Arizona Cardinals backup running back Darrel Williams will miss a Week 5 game Sunday at the Seattle Seahawks with a sprained knee, while starter James Conner’s status remains unclear as he manages a ribs injury, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Williams has 16 rushes for 94 yards (5.9 yards per attempt) with a touchdown this season.

That the Cardinals would be shuffling the running back depth chart was telegraphed Tuesday as they, according to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, added two running backs to the practice squad: Ty’Son Williams and Corey Clement.

Conner and Williams were injured Sunday in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cardinals also lost rostered running back Jonathan Ward to a hamstring injury, and he will land on injured reserve, reports Gambadoro.

The rash of health issues made Eno Benjamin the lone healthy player Sunday.

Moving forward against the Seahawks, he would presumably take on starting duties if Conner is not able to play. Arizona can elevate one or both of Williams and Clement, as well as turn to 2022 sixth-round pick Keaontay Ingram. The rookie has yet to play in a game.

Clement has 196 career rushes and a 4.1 yards-per-carry average, mostly as a member of the Eagles.

Williams has 13 games and three starts in the NFL after going undrafted out of BYU in 2020. He spent time on the Ravens practice squad that same year before making his debut in 2021.

Last season, the 6-foot, 220-pound running back garnered 185 yards and one touchdown on 35 carries (5.3 per attempt). He added 84 receiving yards on nine receptions.

Williams spent 2022 training camp with the Indianapolis Colts before being released.
