Suns guard Josh Okogie exits win vs. Lakers with right hip soreness

Phoenix Suns guard Josh Okogie exited Monday night’s 130-104 win over the Los Angeles Lakers due to right hip soreness.

The team announced at the beginning of the fourth quarter that he would night return to the game at Footprint Center.

Monty Williams told reporters postgame that the injury happened in the first half and that Okogie tried to play through it before the head coach eventually took the guard out late in the third quarter.

The 24-year-old Okogie finished the game with three points on 1-of-5 shooting (20%), including going 0-for-1 from three-point range and 1-of-2 from the free throw line.

He also added three rebounds and one steal in 10 minutes played.

Losing Okogie couldn’t come at a worse time for the Suns, who were only able to have 10 active players dress out on Monday night: Okogie, Deandre Ayton, Chris Paul, Mikal Bridges, Torrey Craig, Landry Shamet, Bismack Biyombo, Damion Lee, Dario Saric and Ish Wainright.

The injury bug has already bitten the likes of starting All-Star guard Devin Booker (groin soreness), backup center Jock Landale (concussion protocol), backup point guard Cam Payne (right foot strain) and guard Duane Washington Jr. (hip strain).

Forwards Cameron Johnson (knee surgery recovery) and Jae Crowder (not with team) were also already sidelined.
