College football bowl season is always full of surprises, but one thing that’s not shocking is watching fans and coaches enjoy getting covered in mayonnaise during the Duke’s Mayo Bowl each year.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl is always one of the most entertaining college football games each year, not because of the play on the field, but because of the copious amounts of mayonnaise eaten by fans as well as the mayo bath on the victorious coach.

No. 23 NC State took on Maryland in a game that featured a lot of defense and mayo-themed events, including this man downing a jar of mayo as if it were an icee at the movie theaters.

The mascot of the bowl, Tubby, was in the booth to aid the commentators — including former Sun Devil QB Brock Osweiler — with the game’s entertainment because there was not a whole lot of offense to talk about.

No, he couldn’t talk, but he added a lot of value to the broadcast.

This was the first season the Duke’s Mayo Bowl had debuted a mascot and it’s safe to say it was a massive hit.

Luckily for Tubby, spectators that made their way to Bank of America Stadium and everyone watching at home, the main event happened after the Terrapins beat the Wolfpack 16-12 and coach Mike Locksley was doused with a large Gatorade cooler full of mayo.

A mayo bath may not be what every young coach dreamed of as they made their way through the ranks, but hey, it might make for one of the best pictures of their life.
