Cardinals host OL Will Hernandez for visit

Offensive guard Will Hernandez visited the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, according to the NFL transactions page.

Hernandez made five starts at right guard for Arizona last year before a torn ACL cut his season short. Across three seasons (2022-24), the lineman started 35 games for Arizona.

Hernandez announced on Instagram last week that he was officially cleared from the injury.

With Hernandez sidelined, Arizona turned to Trystan Colon-Castillo and Isaiah Adams, the latter of whom finished the year as the team’s starting right guard across the final five games.

Adams has stepped into a full-time starting role at right guard throughout training camp and has shown a lot to head coach Jonathan Gannon.

“Isaiah had a hell of a day (Tuesday), had a hell of a week last week, honestly,” he said Thursday. “He probably won the day, truthfully, in my mind.

“He was the All-Star of the day, I thought. Just through team periods, through 11-on-11, through individual, he played extremely well.”

So even if Hernandez latches on in 2025, there’s a good chance he falls in line behind Adams and left guard Evan Brown on the depth chart.

But as we’ve seen in recent years, you can never have enough depth in the trenches.

Will Hernandez’s tenure with the Cardinals

The veteran joined the Cardinals as a free agent in 2022.

He immediately was inserted into the starting lineup, making 30 starts in his first two years with Arizona.

A certified mauler who doesn’t back down from anyone, Hernandez brought a violent presence to the interior of the offensive line.

Where did the veteran OL get his NFL start?

Following his college days at UTEP, Hernandez entered the league as a second-round pick (No. 34 overall) with the New York Giants in 2018.

He started 56 of 62 games across four seasons with the Giants before landing with the Cardinals.

In addition to the Hernandez visit, the Cardinals worked out linebacker Kenneth Odumegwu and offensive tackle Max Pircher.
