Phoenix Mercury bringing back guard Lexi Held

The Phoenix Mercury signed guard Lexi Held on Monday.

Held was waived by the Toronto Tempo last week after appearing in eight games for the expansion franchise. During that span, she averaged 1.1 points on 30% shooting.

Before playing for Toronto, Held signed with the Mercury during training camp in 2025. She made the team and averaged 5.3 points on 37.8% shooting and 30.8% from long range. She added 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Her 23 steals last year were tied for the third-most in Mercury history for a rookie off the bench.

She also posted a six-game stretch of 82 combined points, making her the first Mercury rookie to score at least 80 points in six games since Brittney Griner in 2013.

Held then went 10th overall to the Tempo in the WNBA Expansion Draft in April. She was among the players Phoenix opted against protecting from the draft.

She will now look to provide a spark for a Mercury team that is riding a five-game losing streak.

Phoenix is back in action Monday night against the Minnesota Lynx. The game tips off at 7 p.m. MST.
