Diamondbacks not looking to trade Ketel Marte as he nearly wipes Instagram feed

Many Diamondbacks fans grew worried there was a rift between Ketel Marte and Arizona when the star second baseman wiped his Instagram feed almost entirely over the weekend.

As of Monday morning, the Diamondbacks are not looking to trade Marte, Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro said.

Marte, who was previously very active on Instagram, deleted all posts but one, including those related to the Diamondbacks and others that were not.

The only remaining post is from June 11 with a caption that, when translated from Spanish, reads: “God first and foremost I love you God thank you for everything.” Comments have been restricted on the post.

Arizona fans may remember when former Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray scrubbed his own Instagram page of team-related content and unfollowed the Cardinals during his contract extension talks ahead of the 2022 season that ultimately resulted in a five-year, $230.5 million deal.

Marte leads all Diamondbacks this season with 19 home runs and 104 hits. He’s one behind Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo for the team lead in games played at 101 out of 106.

He has been in the thick of trade rumors as recently as last offseason, which followed scrutiny toward his trip away from the team after the 2025 All-Star break. A report from Bob Nightengale in June suggested members of the organization were still frustrated with him.

Because of Marte’s 10-and-5 rights (10 years in MLB, five on the same club) that kicked in at the beginning of this season, he has a full no-trade clause that would allow him to veto a deal.

He previously had a limited no-trade clause that reportedly included the following five teams: New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Athletics.

The MLB trade deadline is on Aug. 3.
