Trey McBride has high hopes for Cardinals offense with ‘very special’ offensive skill

Trey McBride and the Cardinals aren't worried about what outsiders think. They have full belief in the potential the skill on their roster possesses.

There are not many around the league who believe the Arizona Cardinals will do much winning in 2026.

The Cardinals lost their final nine games of 2025 and head into the new season with the same quarterback who was under center during that losing stretch, another veteran backup and a rookie behind him.

Arizona has some weapons on both sides of the ball, but few believe it’ll amount to much.

Don’t tell Cardinals star tight end Trey McBride that, though. The All-Pro believes the Cardinals have some ” very special” offensive skill.

“We have so many playmakers on this offense with Marvin (Harrison Jr.), with (Michael Wilson), with me, with Jeremiyah (Love), with all these guys,” McBride told Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo Wednesday. “We have so many weapons, so there’s just so much talent on that field, and we’re able to spread the ball so much.

“I’m just excited to see where we can take this thing cause our offensive skill is very special.”

The Cardinals have a brutal schedule in 2026, so even if that skill doesn’t directly translate to wins, McBride expects his team to compete because of the skill they possess and the belief they have in each other.

McBride hasn’t been shy about his belief either. He recently said this on NFL Network:

“We’re about to break out. This is the year it happens. Our talent is very underrated. Our offensive skill is one of the best in the NFL.”

McBride isn’t the only one who feels that way, though. It’s a feeling that’s been instilled throughout the team.

“I think the belief in each other, the belief in our team (and) the belief in what we have in the building,” McBride told Burns & Gambo. “It’s really about us. It’s not about what everyone else is doing. It’s about what we can do. I truly mean that. We do have a tremendous offensive skill.

“We have a tremendous offense, and I’m just excited to see us go and let it loose. I think we can shock a lot of people. We just got to go out there and do it.”

The Cardinals’ offense has the guys on paper to be elite. Wilson has shown the ability to be a No. 1 receiver. Harrison was drafted to be one and needs a breakout. McBride is an All-Pro. Love is one of the most exciting young players with plenty of expectation, and you can keep going from there of guys who have strong upside.

Part of the increased optimism is because of new head coach Mike LaFleur’s ability to manipulate an offense to get playmakers the ball.

“I think Mike does a really good job of moving people around for favorable matchups for us,” McBride said. “He’s not going to put you in the same spot to run the same route. Maybe you’re going to motion out and run a different route. Maybe you’re going to motion in and insert. He does a really good job of moving people around.

“He does a really good job of getting people open, and at the end of the day, he just lets us go and play. It’s been a lot of fun.”
