Devin Booker still getting love as a top SG, this time from The Athletic’s Harper

Devin Booker has been a top shooting guard in the league for quite some time now, and this year will be no different.

Despite not playing up to All-NBA standards the past couple years, he remains in elite company.

The Athletic’s Zach Harper released his player rankings on The Bounce Newsletter, and Booker was ranked as the second-best shooting guard, only behind Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In his 11th season last year, Booker led a Phoenix Suns team that was expected to be bad to the playoffs last season. He put up 26.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and six assists per game on 45.6% shooting.

Harper said that it was a toss-up for second between Booker and Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell but ultimately gave Booker the edge for being more capable on defense.

Other members of the Phoenix Suns made appearances on these lists as well.

Also on the shooting guard list, Dillon Brooks came in at 14th, Jalen Green was 22nd, and newly acquired Luke Kennard was an honorable mention outside of the top 40. Greens reoccurring hamstring injuries last season were a big component in him being lower on the list.

The Suns don’t have anyone on the lead guard list because their two starting guards were both classified as shooting guards.

Then on the big man list, center Mark Williams comes in at 36th. Khaman Maluach could be a candidate to eclipse this list as well if he’s offered consistent regular season minutes, and later down the road, a starting job.

Harper has yet to release his forwards list.
