Arizona State right guard Rob Lapuaho, who was already filling in for the starter, limped off the field in the third quarter against Kansas on Saturday.

Starting right guard Wade Helton was ruled out for “a few weeks” by head coach Kenny Dillingham on Tuesday. ASU has a bye week next week before hosting Baylor and Hawaii.

Lapuaho had more right guard snaps to that point, as the pair who battled for the starting job in fall camp had rotated over the first two games.

The 6-foot-6, 350-pound Lapuaho was replaced in the game by 6-foot-6, 325-pound Siosaia “Leni” Lapuaho, a junior who has seen 15 previous snaps at the FBS level in Week 1 against Morgan State.

Leni Lapuaho transferred from Garden City Community College in Kansas.

It was the second injury the Sun Devils endured on Saturday, as starting tight end Khamari Anderson exited after his left leg was rolled up on during ASU’s second offensive play of the day.
