Suns sign forward Phillip Wheeler to a contract

Phillip Wheeler, a 6-foot-8 forward, signed a deal to join the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old will compete for a roster spot on the Suns during training camp and the preseason.

Wheeler most recently played with the NBA G League United team in Beijing at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. In the four games, he averaged 13.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

His only previous NBA action came in the 2024-25 season, when he played in five games with the Philadelphia 76ers. In those five games, Wheeler averaged 1.6 points and 1.6 rebounds.

Over his career, Wheeler has played with six G League teams, most recently with the Osceola Magic last season. He has averaged 13.3 points per game while shooting 36.3% from deep in his G League career.

The Suns have 21 players listed on the roster with training camp starting on Tuesday.
