Following a five-sack and 10-tackle performance, Horizon High School defensive end Vedder Wolfley is the newest Arizona Cardinals High School Player of the Week.
Wolfley is the son of Ron Wolfley, Arizona Sports radio host and former Cardinals Pro Bowl fullback.
Ron Wolfley had the opportunity to react to the news live on air Tuesday.
“Watching him go out there and try hard and grow as a young man and as a football player, it’s a beautiful thing to see,” Wolfley said on Wolf & Luke. “It’s one of the reasons why I love the game.”
Over his last three games, Vedder Wolfley averaged an impressive 2.3 sacks per game.
Wolfley’s latest performance in the Huskies’ 34-21 win over Cactus Shadows helped propel Horizon to a 6-1 record.
At 2 p.m. on Thursday, Wolfley will receive his player of the week trophy at a Horizon High School ceremony.
The ceremony will feature Cardinals cheerleaders, mascot Big Red and a featured Cardinals legend.
