Every week as part of my show prep (and because I’m genuinely interested), I read through as many research notes I can find.  Sometimes I research my own stats to see if there’s a statistical trend that backs up what I think I’m seeing when I watch games.  Unfortunately for my time-efficiency, occasionally those stats show me nothing and I throw them out.

Here are the stats (or interesting tidbits) from the NFL and college football that I’m using on the show this week.

1) The Cardinals had at least a .500 record at home eight times at Sun Devil Stadium and have nine times at University of Phoenix Stadium. — Cardinals press release

2) Brock Osweiler is the only quarterback in history to win his first career start on his birthday. — NFL press release

3) As much as the Seahawks love to brag about the “12s,” Seattle has the same home record as Arizona since the hiring of Bruce Arians. — Cardinals press release

4) This was the first NFL weekend of the season where a Denver quarterback didn’t throw in interception. — ESPN Stats & Info

5) The only player with more multi-sack games (19 games in five seasons) to start a career than J.J. Watt is Reggie White. — ESPN Stats & Info

6) In the last two weeks, Arizona has faced the top two scoring defenses and scored 73 points. — Cardinals press release

7) The Eagles’ defense is the first home team in history to give up five TD passes to a quarterback and 200 yards rushing to one running back in the same game. — NFL press release

8) Despite six games still remaining, the Cardinals have scored more points in 2015 than they scored last year. — Cardinals press release

9) Jameis Winston and Ray Buivid of the 1935 Chicago Bears are the only rookies in the NFL to throw for five touchdowns with no picks in a single game. — NFL press release

10) The Bengals have never won in Arizona. — Cardinals press release

11) Tony Romo has thrown more touchdown passes to Dez Bryant than Troy Aikman threw to Michael Irvin. — NFL press release

12) For the third week in a row, Arizona is the only NFL team to rank in the top five in both offense and defense. — Cardinals press release

13) The Cardinals are 15-0 when Carson Palmer has better than a 100 passer rating. — Cardinals press release

14) Palmer is the best quarterback in the NFL according to passer rating. — I looked it up after Brady struggled on MNF

15) Palmer has three games with four touchdown passes in 2015 but from his rookie year until his second ACL tear, he threw for four TDs in a game once. — Cardinals press release

16) Detroit is the first team in NFL history to score exactly 18 points in two straight games. — Elias

17) Palmer only needs 2,100 yards to pass Joe Montana and Johnny Unitas on the all-time list. — Cardinals press release

18) Blake Bortles’ 83.3 percent completion percentage versus standard pressure was a career high. Entering Thursday, Bortles had the third-lowest completion percentage (60.1 percent) and yards per attempt (6.7) against standard pressure among qualified quarterbacks in the last two seasons. — ESPN Stats & Info

19) In the fourth quarter, Matt Ryan completed six passes to the Falcons for no touchdowns and two passes to the Colts for one touchdown that tied the game at 21. — ESPN Stats & Info

20) Ryan Fitzpatrick went 0-for-6 on passes traveling 25 yards in the air Sunday, dropping his deep ball completion percentage to 12.5 percent, worst in the NFL. — ESPN Stats & Info

21) Winston was 5-for-25 when throwing the ball into the end zone before Sunday and 3-for-6 with a bad drop, which should have been his sixth TD pass of the day. — ESPN Stats & Info

22) The Broncos offense was so dramatically different with 17 more dropbacks with the QB under center and 16 more rushing plays with the QB under center than any time since Peyton Manning was signed. — ESPN Stats & Info

23) Since the Bears had to honor the bootleg and the passing game, Denver rushed for a season high 170 yards. – ESPN Stats & Info

24) Every Ravens victory has come on field goals on the final play of the game by Justin Tucker, who is 16-for-17 in his career in fourth quarter/OT with a chance to tie the game or put his team ahead in his career. — ESPN Stats & Info

25) Sunday will be the first game the Ravens start a quarterback other than Joe Flacco since he was drafted. — ESPN Stats & Info

26) When tied or leading in the fourth quarter, Tony Romo is 3-0 while the combo of Weeden/Cassel was 0-6 for Dallas. — ESPN Stats & Info

27) Cam Newton and Jameis Winston have both won a national championship, both were drafted number one overall to play quarterback for NFC South teams, and each threw for five touchdowns and 246 yards, while beating an NFC East team by 28 points and neither threw an interception. — ESPN Stats & Info

28) The Packers hadn’t recorded a blitz-less sack (rushing four or less) since September but sacked Teddy Bridgewater with standard pressure four times. — ESPN Stats & Info

29) Russell Wilson is the first quarterback in eight years to be perfect against the blitz (11-for-11; 3 TDs) on double-digit attempts. — ESPN Stats & Info

30) In his five years in Seattle, Marshawn Lynch never rushed for as many yards as Thomas Rawls did against the 49ers. — ESPN Stats & Info

31) On 16 of Thomas Rawls’ rushes, the 49ers only put six in the box and Rawls gashed San Francisco for over 160 yards on those 16 carries. — ESPN Stats & Info

32) Palmer threw three touchdown passes in a quarter for only the third time in his career Sunday. — ESPN Stats & Info

33) Before Sunday, Palmer had never thrown three deep-ball touchdowns (ball travels 15 yards beyond the line-of-scrimmage) but completed four against Cincinnati. –ESPN Stats & Info

34) The only two receivers with 40 receptions and no drops are Danny Amendola and Larry Fitzgerald. — ESPN Stats & Info

35) The Patriots have at least 10 games in a season for 13 straight years, second longest streak in NFL history. — ESPN Stats & Info

36) The Patriots were shutout in the fourth quarter ending their scoring streak of 38 straight quarters. — ESPN Stats & Info

37) New England has never lost a game at Gillette Stadium when leading at halftime. — ESPN Stats & Info
