Larry Fitzgerald funds #BestSchoolDay requests from Minneapolis schools

Larry Fitzgerald's generosity helps out 20 Minneapolis schools.

There is little doubt that Larry Fitzgerald is great on the football field. Once again, he’s proven he’s pretty good off the field, too.

The nine-time Pro Bowler contributed to and finished the $50,800 worth of classroom projects on DonorsChoose.org according to the StarTribune.

That donation funded 58 requests from 20 Minneapolis schools. Those requests covered books, school trips and more. The funding was part of a flash mob funding project of the #BestSchoolDay campaign.

The Cardinals wide receiver’s donation paid for a color printer with ink, an iPad cover, a bubble machine and a switch-adapted toy for the classroom of teacher Katherine Tellander of Hmong International Academy.

“When we found out that our project had been funded so quickly, and by Larry Fitzgerald himself, we were ecstatic, and so very grateful,” Tellander said. “We care so much about our students and to have donors out there like Larry, who are giving back to the community, it makes all the difference in the world.”

Other celebrities such as Seth Rogen, Samuel L. Jackson and Ashton Kutcher also donated.
