The dates of the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl, a College Football Playoff quarterfinal game in Glendale, were announced for the next two seasons.

The Vrbo Fiesta Bowl in the 2026-27 season will be played on Dec. 30, 2026, and the CFP quarterfinal game will be played on Jan. 1, 2028, for the 2027-28 season, according to a press release.

Next season’s Fiesta Bowl will be the only CFP game on that day, and the quarterfinal game will be part of a New Year’s Day tripleheader of CFP action during the 2027-28 season, the release said.

The next two years will be the third and fourth CFP quarterfinals hosted by the Fiesta Bowl. The first game was in 2024 when Penn State beat Boise State 31-14.

This past season’s matchup was between Ole Miss and Miami on Jan. 8. Miami won and advanced to the national championship.

Vrbo Fiesta Bowl executive director and CEO Erik Moses said the bowl has been synonymous with college football’s biggest moments for a long time, and finalizing dates for the next two seasons solidifies its role in the CFP and the road to the national championship.

“Whether in a standalone national spotlight or as part of a traditional New Year’s Day college football tripleheader,” Moses said. “We are proud to continue delivering world-class hospitality and engaging experiences for student-athletes, fans, schools and our partners here in Arizona as a meaningful part of the College Football Playoff.”
